Breakfast Clubers Good Morning

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Miller family in Tuxedo, NC. Jim Daddy will be missed by Greystone girls everywhere, but he has left us with life lessons and wonderful memories that will never be forgotten. He taught us to think positively and strive to be our best selves everyday. We love you Jim Daddy!

Pizza Dip

This is a super easy dip that I got from Leigh C. Vaughan if you need to whip something up for a party or cookout:

Bottom Layer: 1 block on softened cream cheese topped with Italian spices
Middle Layer: 1 can if pizza sauce topped with 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Top Layer: Sliced Pepperoni, Chopped Green Peppers, Sliced Black Olives topped with the other cup of mozzarella cheese

Pop in the oven on 350 for 30 minutes or until bubbly. Serve with pita chips and enjoy!

Thank you Neti Pot

Bless this soul that introduced us to the fabulous Neti Pot on Oprah a few years ago. Irrigating your sinuses in public is very bold, but I am glad that she did it! I used to struggle with allergies and sinus infections a few times a year, and if you have ever had a sinus infection you will probably agree that you would try anything to avoid another one. A nurse buddy of mine encouraged me to irrigate my sinuses on a regular basis and knock on wood, but I have not had sinus trouble since. It is definitely not an attractive practice, but ohhhhh so worth it. I have two Neti pots, one for travel and one for home, both from CVS pharmacy for under $20. Money well spent-I promise!

Read it!

Great, great book. I am not even going to try to review the book because there is no way that I will be able to do it justice. Just trust me, and read it!

Less is More

I hope that everyone had a safe and happy New Years! A handful of friends and I celebrated at my house by sharing our resolutions around a blazing fire and drinking cheap champagne and ending the night with an old-school dance party that would make Beyonce jealous. It was wonderful. Here are the people that I was lucky enough to ring in the new decade with:

The first two and a half days of 2010 have been gloriously lazy. I have spent time reflecting back on 2009 and everything that I have to be thankful for. It was a great year with several firsts-from buying my first car to starting my first big girl job. I have also spent time reading back through my first blog, as it was around this time last year that I started writing this. I still believe that it is important to find balance in your life and I am going to continue on my journey in hopes to achieve a valuable balanced life. But instead of struggling to balance all of the balls that life throws at you, this year I am going to focus on the few things that are truly important to me. My health, faith and new career, spending quality time with my friends and family and making sure that my pups are happy are the things that I have decided make me happy and I value most in life. So I will be streamlining and 'trimming the fat' so to speak. I want to minimize the other noise that gets in the way of focusing on my priorities. Are all of those things on my ever growing to-do list REALLY that urgent? I will be spending more time at work and traveling for work so it will be important to maximize my free time. I have decided that my theme for 2010 will be Less Is More. The plan is to spend less time focusing on the little, trivial things so that I can spend more time doing what makes me happy. Because I have been and will always be a list maker, I have compiled a few 'less is more' habits-some to help me reach the goal of focusing on my priorities, others that, lets be honest, just need to happen :
  • less worrying about the future, more enjoying today
  • less mindless TV, more reading inspiring books
  • less processed foods/sugar, more fruits, veggies and lean meats
  • less sleeping in on Sundays, more attending Sunday school and church with the fam
  • less sunburns (no tanning bed), more taking care of my skin
  • less washing my hair, more...just kidding mom
  • less walks with the dogs walking me, more demanding control with them
  • less sitting around, more time spent being active with the dogs, friends and family
  • less reading gossip mags, more reading the Bible
I am sure that I will be adding to and editing this list as the year progresses. I challenge you to really think about what is important to you and make that your focus for 2010. Life is too short to waste time and energy thinking about anything else!

Happy 1st Birthday Sister

A long day at Hot Diggity Doggie Day Camp and waiting for Santa can really wear a pup out!
